Hearing Loss Australia (HLA) specialises in the Psychosocial Impact of hearing loss and the impact of hearing loss on relationships. Hearing Loss Australia (HLA) is committed to improving quality of life for people who suffer hearing loss.

One in six Australians suffer from hearing loss and this figure is representative of the rest of the world. Research suggests that this figure is expected to be as high as one in five or one in four by the year 2050.

Leisure activities are having a greater impact on hearing loss. Exposure to high levels of sound at night clubs, pubs and rock concerts can have a damaging effect on the hearing of younger people. MP3 players and iPods can also be damaging to young ears.

HLA provides a range of services targeted towards a common goal of helping people who suffer hearing loss enjoy life again, more than they ever though they would.

HLA services include training for Health Professionals and Carers in the management of hearing loss in their clients and patients, as well as a specialised service to Audiologists/Audiometrists and their clients in the provision of a unique Rehabilitation Plus Program compliant with the requirements of the Office of Hearing Services.
